I was taught by my instructor to use carb heat at any time you throttle
back 
below 2000 rpm. If you need the power on a go around it's just as easy to 
push in two knobs.  I use this procedure religously and have never 
experienced carb ice durning landing.   I think you will agree it is safer

when you follow the same procedure every time.
