It is correct that the trailing edge of the aileron should be bent to
acheive the trim tab effect. I read it years ago and trimmed mine that
way. I used a wide billed vice grip, gently, and ever so slightly went
along the trailing edge bending almost imperceptively. Then flew and
noticed changes until there was no aileron heaviness, they were neutral
without having to hold the wheel with left or right pressure. The bend
is over the entire length of the trailing edge, you should not be able to
notice the bend. In fact, you need to stop before bending too much.

I have seen friends install trim tabs on their Ercoupes. But they also
installed everything under the sun on their Ercoupes too. They were well
equipped to say the least. But the trim tabs, in one case an electric
trim tab, probably were not necessary on an Ercoupe.

Be careful if you chose to bend the trailing edge using only slight
pressure to bend, again, only slightly. On mine you can't notice that
it is "bent-adjusted" by looking. It should not be noticable to the
Nekkid eye.
