Another Winner! (August 21, 1999)
Vancouver, Washington (CouperNews)
Mr Buzz Dolim, against stiff and
capable competition, won the "Best
In Class" at the Northwest Antique
Airplane Club fly-in here. This
annual festival of flight is held
yearly in August, and occured the
20th through the 22nd this year.
This award was for the Post War
Classic class, for airplanes made
in 1945-46. Buzz's plane bested
Cessnas of the 120-140 class, Globe
Swifts and others of similar years.
This year marks the 40th ("40 and
Climbing") annual gathering of old
airplanes. Evergreen Field has been
used for aircraft instruction and
rental since the late 1940's. It is
still the best rental situation in
the Greater Portland (Oregon) area.
Flying up from California with Mr.
Dolim were Maynard Smith, Ted Lech-
ner and Tim LoDolce. These three
planes were graced with exceptionally
good parking places, as well as very
acceptable flying weather. When the
award was presented, Mr. Dolim was
quite suprized. His daughter, son-
in-law and grand child were on hand
to share in his joy.
