A little more about the crashes at Arlington (AWO). I talked to a guy who
saw
the RV6A crash. Apparently the only casualty in the actual crash was the
aircraft. The pilot survived the impact and was trapped inside the burning

wreckage. A bunch of bystanders had small fire extinguishers and got as
close
as they could trying to get the fire out and talking to the pilot. This
story
sends chills up my spine... to survive a crash only to be trapped in a
burning fusalage.
MY QUESTION IS... would a forced landing be best with an open canopy
to
be able to jump clear or closed to keep debris clear of pilot.
