Steve I about dropped when I saw this posting because I had a very similar occurrence this weekend and was going to ask the same question. I noticed while flying that fuel was "bubbling' up into the sight gauge on my header tank. It had never done this before. After I landed, I took the fuel cover off and noticed that the little plastic cap on top of the sight gauge was cracked. I replaced the cap and the problem seems to have (almost) gone away. Because the fuel level remains very high in the header tank, I think that the cracked, loose fitting sight gauge cap was allowing the vacuum created by the air passing over it to suck fuel up into the tube. I still seem to have very small amount of fuel splashing into the tube and have to wonder if the very hot weather we've had here in the North East the last few days is contributing to the problem.
Hope this was of some help Roger - 99399 -----Original Message----- From: Steven Lewis <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Wednesday, July 07, 1999 11:00 AM Subject: Fuel in the popup guage >I was flying the coupe the other day and noticed about 1-2 cm of fuel in the >glass cylinder enclosing the float indicator for the center fual tank. >The fuel stayed there throughout much of the flight and eventually went >away after a couple of hours but it worries me > any bright ideas - should I look at the drains back to the wing tanks >and if so how??? >============================================================== >LordJoe - Java Training and Consulting >http://www.LordJoe.com >
