I had to chuckle when Roger nearly broke his neck as he stepped off his
coupe after replacing his doughnuts and spacers.  I had the same
experience.
I also had the same squirrely effect with the low tail,  wanted to lift
off
before I had adequate speed with variations of headwinds.  I had been
receiving flying instructions for a couple weeks in my newly acquired
coupe.
Since my instructor was unfamiliar with the characteristics of the coupe,
I
was informed from a fellow couper that the tail was too low and replacing
the doughnuts and spacers would alleviate the problem.  And it did.  What
a
difference! This was before my awareness of the Mailing List.
