Robert 3731H >> Have you considered using a solid aluminum piece in between the two sliding clear panels. My first Ercoupe came with one and it is really great for sun protection. It would be very easy to make one. It is 29 inches wide (can be made more or less to suit ) and is the same dimensions front to back as the side sliding windows. It has the same male/female ends riveted to it as the side sliding windows. It fits in between the clear glass just fine. It has a thin amount of insulation or upholstery on the inside next to your head. It is slightly in the way when entering or exiting the a/c as it will not slide down the channels completely out of the way. It must either be slide down on each side for the pilots to enter/exit the a/c or both pilots enter/exit from the same side. I consider this a minor inconvenience and feel that its advantages are far better then not having it. It is normally across the top of the canopy and you can still slide the side pieces down and fly with your elbow out in the breeze or fly with the side pieces up tight with the top piece. The canopy can still be locked but it will take one more lock to do so. kim N3036H NC Sorry, you folks with the slide back canopies, (late model Coupes) it only works on the Coupes with sliding side windows.
