About 10 years ago after landing and while experiencing a severe shimmy, the old type steering rod with the little ball on the end broke off mine, and I coasted benignly to the side of the runway, thank goodness. I radioed the tower and told them that I would be towing it in, by hand. I walked in front pulling it by the prop near the hub until I got it back to the hangar. Took a while. Soon thereafter I ordered the new steering rod from Skyport that has the different type rod end on it. It has been so long ago I forgot what all came in the conversion kit but I do know IT IS MUCH MORE SUBSTANTIAL. If yours hasn't broken yet, you may want to put this on your list to change. If yours has broken, definately change to the new type. And regarding tire pressure, even though mine has a new double fork and the sissors have been rebuilt with new bushings and all, occasionally mine will shimmy. Occasionally. Tire pressure is critical, and I believe that it is 17 lbs in the nose wheel. Also, when yours starts to shimmy, if it does, turn slightly left or right to put a side load on the nose wheel and it will usually stop shimmying pretty quick.
