On the topic of strobe lights. Any strobe package that you put on
the aircraft can cause radio noise. There are three different noise
sources. Electrical system backnoise can be caused by the strobe packs
backfeeding a frequency into the electrical system. The noise filters
that can be found in any avionics/aircraft supply catalog will fix that
problem. Another source of radio noise is radiated noise from the high
tension leads between the strobe packs and the strobes. Make sure that
these leads are shielded against RF interference. The final source of
noise comes from the strobe tubes themselves. If the stobes are too
close to your radio antenna then the magnetic field generated by the
strobe can interfere with the antenna. Hope this is of help to anyone
that may be having a problem. Mike
