Hi Larry,
When the airspeed reads high the probable cause is that the static source
is
vented to the inside of the airplane.  Makes you feel good but you don't
get
there any faster.  Check to see if there is an opening in the static line
from
the indicator to the probe out under the wing.  A friend of mine has a
Starduster which gains 200' just accelerating down the runway to take off.
You may notice this characteristic also which tells you that the problem
is
not the instrument.  If you open your canopy in flight you may go even
faster
becuse that reduces the cockpit pressure even more.
