Lynn, the welting on my coupe goes all the way to the bottom of the frames
at the bottom of the aircraft.  The metal strips are the bearing strips
for
the thumbscrews that are used to hold the window in whatever position you
choose.  Thumbscrew presses against the metal strip and it in turn
compresses the welting and window against the outer side of the frame
holding it open.
Sorry to hear about you DAD, hoping he gets better.
I will correct the drawing and get a copy to you in a day or two.  If
there
is anything else I can sketch up for you, let me know.
Will know more about the crankshaft when it is removed.  I'LL call Earl
about the seats.
