Nearing completion on my 0-200 conversion and my mechanic ran into a
small delema. When testing the elec. fuel pump operation per the STC the
fuel pump warning light is suppost to be off as long as it is pumping
fuel & pressure stays above 10psi(Believe this to be correct, don't have
paper work with me at present).Restrictor is located on output port of
pump & fuel is being pumped but light still stays on.Even installed a
back up fuel pressure guage(part of my own back up securities) & it
shows no pressure.Took fuel hose off at pump output port & blocked off
to see if light would go off & it did not also no pressure was indicated
on my 15psi fuel pressure guage.Did notice that the elec. pump is a
piston driven pump & not a rotary style pump. Now I am a Master Certified
auto mechanic & in this business for over 25 years now but I still let
the A/P mechanics do my aircraft work, after all it's there ass up for
grabs if anything goes wrong, but I have never seen a piston type pump
deliver over 10psi.Wonder if I was sent the wrong pump with the STC
conversion kit from Skyport. Saturday night right now & cannot call them
to find out. Will have to wait till Monday to give them a call. All you
0-200 owners out there, how is your system behaving, what style pump is
being used & am I correct on the 10psi turn on point of the fuel warning
light. You can post any answers or e-mail me directly at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
.Can't wait to get her in the air again and see what performance I have
gained. This is the second ercoupe I have the pleasure to own and is in
my opinion the best 2 seat airplane ever built. Too bad they scrapped
the idea of the newer 4-seat version that Alon
had. Everybody-enjoy the good times. Larry
