I have kept my Ercoupe (`46 415C) stock - not even a permanently
installed radio. Won "most original" prize for it, and want to preserve
it for the next person. Also don't have the money to dude it up...
When I took my first BFR in the `coupe, I had more time (like 2 hrs.)
than my CFI. He said "I've heard that these things don't stall." So
we took it up a couple thousand feet, and sure enough, it didn't. Did
the high speed sink, and just bobbed nose up and down.
IMHO, a CFI should be looking at any and all kinds of airplanes - you
never know what the company will put you in next! You'll probably
hear how the Boeing company put the early jetliner pilots in the Ercoupes
so they would learn to land slightly crabbed, rather than flying final
wing-low. It is a lot easier on engine nacelles that way... :-)
