"vmysql"? Is this some modified authentication module, or is that just a
typo?

Otherwise - what exact veresion of courier-authlib are you running, and
where did you get it from? (e.g. did you compile it yourself frmo source,
did you find a binary package, did you install from ports etc)

And what version of mysql server and mysql client libraries?
