Just make it an empty file.

Well, tried that. After this the error-message disappeared, but I still couldn't log in from IMP - this way the logout appeared right after login in the logfile :(

But is there a way to DISABLE the shared folders, not to just share nothing?

Presence or absence of shared folders has absolutely nothing to do with one's ability to log in, or not.
