I'm trying to set up my first instance of Courier-IMAP on my Debian sarge server. I've created a virtual domain and user ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) on my server (www.jhuccp.org) for my client, which is receiving email correctly. I installed courier-IMAP (3.0.8-4sarge4) from the Debian sarge package. courier-authdaemon (0.47-4sarge4) and courier-base (0.47-4sarge4) were also installed automatically. I'm able to use Thunderbird to connect to the server with IMAP and collect and read the mail for the hibtest user, so I think everything is functioning well up to this point.
However, when I try to send an email from Thunderbird connected to the hibtest user account, I get an error message that says, "Sorry, this domain isn't in it my list of allowed rcpthosts." I think that this is a bogus error message, first because 'hibaction.org' IS in the rcpthosts, and secondly because I'm not trying to SEND to hibaction.org. I think I'm missing some part having to do with SMTP authentication. Can anyone suggest how to troubleshoot and fix this problem?
