Given the nature of the unix filesystem and the specific nature of
MAILDIR I'd say that if you have a reasonable amount of activity
any deleted email will be RAPIDLY unrecoverable,  (1) the inode will be
reused so all of the links to the blocks will vanish, (2) the individual
blocks themselves will be overwritten.
