Hi

I understand that when using the authpam module it will automatically
use $HOME as defined in /etc/passwd and then use whatever is define in
MAILDIR_PATH

Unfortunately this is not what I want courier-imap to do.

I read in this thread:
http://www.nabble.com/Problem-with-Postfix-and-Courier-IMAP-t1896631.html

that a way around this was to create a link in the user's home directory.

Or, to modify the authpam source code or write a authpipe.

Fair enough :)
Unfortunately, I am not familiar at all with the source code of
authpam, it's very simplistic too (Assuming I am looking at the
correct file: authpam.c ).

Where could I find direction on how to modify authpam to use an
arbitrary mail directory (I want to set it up to something like
/data/mail/$USER/ )

or how can I write a simple authpipe that will reuse most of what
authpam is doing but set a different MAILDIR_PATH of my liking.

I have no doubt that somebody has done something similar in the past.
So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ultimately I want to move from cyrus-imap to courier-imap, mainly
because courier-imap allow much greater flexibility.

Thank you
Jean-Yves
