It is probably better to reduce the number of simultaneous connections
that T-bird tries to make.  I reduced it to 2 and it works fine.  I'm
not at home, but if you interested, I can check tonight and email you
the exact procedure.  If not, you can just Google search for it, as lots
of pages explain it.
