Courier, by default, allows 4 imap connections per IP address. These two settings obviously conflict with each other. You can reduce TB's max connections by going to Tools -> Account Settings, Server settngs, Advanced, "Maximum number of server connections to cache. You can change the Courier default be editing /etc/courier/imapd and setting MAXPERIP to a greater number.
