Unfortunately I don't know where the configuration file is. I used " 
find /usr -exec grep -l 'PIDFILE' '{}' ';' " but founf nothing.
Also a "find / -name "*imap*" " doesn't show any meaningful results 
(only /etc/init.d).

Maybe the courier installation is more customized than I expected.
