Hi All
Many thanks for the replies in this topic.  Just to
clarify, I can telnet in to my mail server on port 143
from any host without problems, I can log in and run
the commands OK.

But I did note in my syslog that when I try to connect
using pine (run on the server) it leaves an entry that
says:

"no such user: nigel@:127.0.0.1"

I wonder if this might point towards where the
configuration error lies.  I have had some other
suggestions via the list so will try those out an
report back.
