Ah. You're using Thunderbird, so am I - 2.0.0.9. Thunderbird has a habit
of doing this, I have it in some newsgroups.

I don't have it with Squirrelmail or Evolution or Pan. Check by using
another MUA - Evolution, for example, or Outlook Express if you're on
Windows.

If you have access to the IMAP Maildir on the server, simply look in the
cur subdirectory if there are any recent messages without an 'S' flag
when this happens. If there are, 'less' them to find the Subject: and
see if that figures.

I've been using Courier IMAP at an enterprise-size site (and other
sites) for years with many different MUAs accessing it both internally
on the lan and externally from the Internet. Present version is 4.0.2.
I've never come across any case where Courier has ever spontaneously
changed flagged messages, removing 'S' flags and then replacing them,
just to tease people.

AFAICS Courier adheres strictly to the IMAP rfcs; If you're interested
in finding out more about this, simply Google for imap+rfc - there are
just under a million results for you to browse ;)
