I am trying to build courier-imap4.7.0 on a Fedora 12 64bit machine

Logged in as non root user - unpack and configure goes OK. There are no options to configure.

make completes OK, but make check fails with the following error:

make[2]: Entering directory `/home/rs/courier-imap-4.7.0/rfc2045'
/bin/sh ./testsuite | cmp -s - ./testsuite.txt
make[2]: *** [check-am] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/rs/courier-imap-4.7.0/rfc2045'
make[1]: *** [check] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/rs/courier-imap-4.7.0/rfc2045'
make: *** [check-recursive] Error 1

Any assistence much appreciated.

Follow the instructions for building rpms. You should manually build and install anything on Fedora.
