No. You should simply use your IMAP clients to create folders, then
adjust your mail delivery scripts to deliver mail to
MAILDIR/.foldername.

I'd say it's safest to do it as Sam advises: i.e.
* create folders from IMAP client
* mv ~/mail/blah/cur/* ~/Maildir/.blah/cur/

If you wanted to move the whole folder in one go, you'd need to beware of
the rules for Maildir++ with folders inside Maildirs (in particular the
presence of the 'maildirfolder' file). See:
