Hi there, (I hope this doesn't end up as a double-post, I originally submitted through the web interface but I get told it has not gone through to the list so am posting direct)
I am having some issues with creating new mail folders on my email server. This is affecting BOTH Thunderbird and Squirrel Webmail. I can create and subscribe to the folders, and they'll follow every system (eg work and home computers), but trying to copy or move messages to them gives the error "The current operation on 'Inbox' did not succeed. The mail server for account da...@dlit.co.nz responded: [TRYCREATE] Mailbox does not exist.". I can get similar errors trying to delete these folders, and deleting them certainly is a problem. This affects at least 2 accounts that I have access to on this server. I create the new folder, and try to copy messages into it. I have done this many times before the problem appeared. I created the server using the tutorial at http://flurdy.com/docs/postfix Now I would strongly suspect that there is a file permissions problem. I did some significant changes to the the underlying (Debian-based) OS some weeks back, including a distribution upgrade. Some time after that I got an error report from one of the monitoring programs that file permissions had changed, and seeing that a large number of files in (iirc) /usr/bin I did a change on the lot of them (being too lazy to check each one off the list individually!). While I am sure they've since been corrected, there may've been something missed. I cannot say for sure if I created a new folder before or after this time, but the last time I created a folder it all worked perfectly well. As stated, I also cannot create new folders with the webmail login. If I try to enter one of the folders already made, I get : "ERROR: Could not complete request. Query: SELECT "INBOX.c2" Reason Given: Mailbox does not exist, or must be subscribed to." The email and sql logs show nothing other than basic access information (ie that I logged in). All inbound and outbound traffic including automatic moving mail between folders works fine. Every folder in place before this problem occurred works as it should, it's just the creation of new folders which is failing. They are partly being created in that I can see on this machine (work) folders I created at home last night, but I cannot access them I would be very grateful for any help.
