I want to apologize right off for having been too quick to consult this 
list...

The problem is a postfix problem, some details of which escaped me in my 
confusion. There is no need to describe this in detail, but suffice it 
to say that some mails got delivered to "new" (those addressed to unix 
account holders) and some did not (those addressed to aliases for these 
accounts).

My apologies again and thanks for the help offered.
