Expecting to Sam to design a caching scheme that outperforms a database
is a bit much to ask I would think.  If you're having problems with
database performance, I'd suggest looking at the database itself as the
bottleneck, not kludge something that shouldn't have to be a database.

Maybe I'm missing the big picture here, fill me in.
