Never heard of ACAP before (not Application Configuration Access
Protocol).

I don't see any ICAL protocol either via google.

I was referring to ICAP (http://icap.chek.com, which appears to be
down). The mcal library has support for it (http://mcal.chek.com)

Uhh, I don't think ACAP is what you think it is:

"ACAP is the Application Configuration Access Protocol, an internet
protocol for accessing client program options, configurations, and
preference information remotely."

While I could see you use ACAP to store some preferences for a
calendar, ACAP is not a calendar protocol.
