Greetings ...
I'm new to Courier; it looks *really* nice but I just can't get it to
work.
I've been following the mailing list and trying to get pgsql and/or
mysql auth to work, but gave up on those for now - I can convert later
if I really need the performance. At this point I'm just trying to get
SMTP receipt/relay and POP3 working for virtual users.
I'm using the courier-0.37.0.20020112 tarball on a RedHat 7.2 box; the
compiler is: gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.1 2.96-98). I
also have gcc3 installedl apparently Courier can't be compiled with
it; I tried it anyways and indeed it didn't work.
I did a standard build with './configure', so everything is in
/usr/lib/courier. The courier user is courier.courier. Virtual maildir
boxes are going to live under /usr/lib/vmail and be owned by
vmail.vmail.
I have userdb auth working through the authdaemon; I can log in and
read mail via POP3.
I've followed all of the documentation I can find and I'm now stuck
with esmtpd giving me "Relay denied" for a domain for which, to the
best of my knowledge, it should be accepting mail. Let me briefly
outline the configuration:
My authdaemonrc reads: (minus comments and blank lines and the *orig list)
authmodulelist="authuserdb"
daemons=4
version="authdaemond.plain"
authdaemonvar=/usr/lib/courier/var/authdaemon
My userdb reads:
mytestdomain
home=/usr/lib/vmail/mytestdomain|mail=/usr/lib/vmail/mytestdomain|gid=402|pop3pw=XmJcbqykRBTaY|uid=402
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
home=/usr/lib/vmail/mytestdomain|mail=/usr/lib/vmail/mytestdomain|gid=402|pop3pw=XmJcbqykRBTaY|uid=402
@mytestdomain.com
home=/usr/lib/vmail/mytestdomain|mail=/usr/lib/vmail/mytestdomain|gid=402|pop3pw=XmJcbqykRBTaY|uid=402
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
home=/usr/lib/vmail/mytestdomain|mail=/usr/lib/vmail/mytestdomain|gid=402|pop3pw=XmJcbqykRBTaY|uid=402
I have 'mytestdomain.com' in hosteddomains.
I have '@mytestdomain.com: mytestdomain' as an alias.
I have 'mytestdomain.com.' and 'mytestdomain.com' in esmtpacceptmailfor.
I have verified that all database files have been updated from the
above text files and restarted all courier processes to be sure
everyting was re-read.
/usr/lib/vmail/mytestdomain is a valid maildir (subdirs: cur new tmp)
with the correct permissions.
... but when I telnet to the SMTP port from a remote machine, and say
helo <myname>
mail from:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
rcpt to:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
I get
513 Relaying denied.
I suspect that there's somewhere else I should be putting
'mytestdomain.com' but I can't for the life of me find anything in the
documentation that I haven't done. The above settings may be redundant
somehow - should I be taking something out??
Any and all advice is appreciated.
Cheers,
Tom
