This can be done by compiling tcp_wrappers support into the daemon process.
We use this with smail-3.2, and I don't think it would be difficult to do
with courier-imap.

BTW: I've added whosond support to the version we're running here based on
some old patches (SRPMS for Caldera Linux in ftp.celestial.com:/pub/SRPMS).
This allows SMTP after POP with MTAs that use the whosond protocol.
