When I was researching e-mail servers, one of the factors that sold me on courier was its relative ease of installation. By contrast, I found Cyrus to be very difficult to deal with. Any full-featured systems administration package will be rather intensive to install and maintain. If you are looking for easier installations, at the cost of fewer features, there are a number of e-mail servers out there. But with a certain amount of patience, you'll find courier to be worth the effort. And as the INSTALL document points out, the initial installation is the worst one - upgrades are quite smooth, even if you are compiling. At last report, you seemed to be on your way. Don't give up yet. David M.
