Hi all,
I have put off setting up any mail servers because I have heard about
all the problems with sendmail. The need has become too great, so I started
researching how to make sendmail work and I determined that the correct way
is to use courier instead.
I have downloaded all the supporting software including OpenLDAP, OpenSSL,
Apache on SSL and MySQL. I let everything install to the default dir's.
The only troubles I had was with OpenLDAP (firewall rules not allowing
traffic on the loopback adapter) I built courier. When I tried to launch
the /usr/lib/courier/libexec/authlib/authdaemond I get the following error:
./authdaemond.ldap: error in loading shared libraries: libldap.so.2: cannot
open shared object file: No such file or directory
I tried editing the /etc/ld.so.conf file to include the dir where the
offending file is. I also tried setting the CPPFLAGS and LDFLAGS variables
and re-building courier with no improvement.
Courier seems to be set up to migrate from another server, are there any
guidelines for setting up a brand new courier server without having any
other server running in the past??
Ready to run away and join the circus
Markus
