Which ones?  The bofh filter and the /etc/courier/filters/active filters 
if enablefilter is set to smtp?

Of course you are right.  What I was attempting to ask is if the 
sysdir/aliases/.courier-default is consulted for mail that is being 
relayed.  I'm guessing no.
