hi, i finally managed to connect to mysql. it was a very stupid mistake
(had a whitespace after the mysql user and it escaped my notice...).
but unfortunately it still doesn't work :-(
now i get the same in telnet

and syslogd still isnt't very verbose:

so there is still a mistake - i hope it's not as stupid as the one with the
user name (sorry for that... i was so tired i didnt notice it.)
