So did you ever get a response? I was in the same boat, then just gave up, still don't have a email server up and running.

I have been trying to install the Courier-IMAP for a few days now and I am

What I have done currently:
1) Installed Qmail and POP3D they work fine.
2) Followed the installation instructions noted on the web site. When I
ran configure I did not add any options just "./configure". I also ran this
as the correct user as noted in the installation notes.
3) Ran make install-strip
4) I started 2 daemons as follows:
/usr/lib/courier-imap/libexec/authlib/authdaemond start
and /usr/lib/courier-imap/libexec/imapd.rc start
When I try and attach with an IMAP client it get an authentication error. I
am guessing that the Courier-IMAP is not authenticating but I have no idea
why. I have fiddled with the configuration files a little but no success.
At this point I am stuck. Ideas/suggestions?
