Have you tried looking at the passwords themselves? I found that on my system, for instance, anyone with an apostrophe in her password could not authenticate via webmail, whereas she could through her client. Not knowing more about your system, choice of authentication, etc., I can only offer this bit of information based on my odd experience with passwords and webmail. Ellie
