We are running a mail server using Postfix, Maildrop, and Courier-IMAP with SSL for incoming and
outgoing post. We are having
problems with every client, but perhaps the most bizarre is with M$ Outlook: I currently have 4 IMAP boxes located on this server in my
Outlook list. _Every_ time I go to check mail at these
accounts, I will be disconnected from at least one of the sessions with a
message telling me that there may be ‘server or network problems or your
timeout interval is too short’.
Also, about 90% of the time I will get an error
(0x800CCC0E) fetching new headers from a successful connection which
subsequently stays open. The error log reports nothing. In fact, it shows successful connections
for each account and claims that there are no headers in the account that
errors-out. However, if I check the
box individually, I find I do have messages. The server timeout is set to something ridiculous like 2
hours. The IP concurrency limit is
10. The server has no other
problems sending or receiving and is actually very well-behaved otherwise. Note: This
server is also running Mailman, named, apache, and the CA. We are running the latest versions of
everything mail-related including Squirrelmail (on a
different server) which works flawlessly. I’ve invested tens of hours pouring over mail list and
newsgroup archives. I’ve
tinkered with everything I can think of to tinker with. I’m at my wits end here…
