Setting up Courier for the first time on Mandrake 8.2 Installation was smooth. Trying to use as a local mail machine but trying to use pop3d to retrieve mail and esmtp to send I continually get timeout errors. Then all the sudden about once every 2 hours or so it will work then it returns to timing out. If I switch to IMAP to retrieve mail I have no problems.
Logs show that pop3d and courieresmtp both receive the request and start but the error log only shows pop3d disconnecting. Nothing about authentication failure for pop or connection refused for esmtp. Authdaemon.plain started with authpw, authshadow, authpam SMTP does not require authentication POP and IMAP connections NOT over SSL (yet) Standard $HOME/Maildir setup Xinetd is off. Any and All suggestions are greatly appreciated.
