Well, in all of the processes listed, there are no tcpd's...

If you're building on an rpm platform, build the rpm and install those. 
Otherwise, make sure that nothing else (like sendmail or inetd) has the
ports that courier needs already open.  Check /var/log/messages and
/var/log/maillog for information following startup.  Make sure that
ESMTPDSTART=yes in esmtpd, IMAPDSTART=yes in imapd, and POP3DSTART=yes
in pop3d.
