Indeed I did. But a few arguments keep me from doing so:

- curiosity ;)
- i want a separate file for each domain, probably in the user's home
   directory (I haven't come to a decision so far.) and I don't want
   the db file to be recreated after every change.
- userdb wouldn't increase performance, because my singe files will
   remain small.
- MTA is Exim, so I can easily access all this file by $domain and
   lsearch.

If all my attempts failed to get authcustom working, then I'd switch
to authuserdb, which is a good alternative and I know that it works.
