Sorry for my previous reply, I double checked it with plain passwords now
and it works!!!

To helping other people that may have the same problem to debug it :

Keywords : qmail ldap courier err login failed pop3

1 .- I modified the qmail.schema file on the openldap server and added the
clearPassword attribute.
2 .- I added the clearPassword attribute into my user entry on the LDAP
database with a test password
3 .- Restarted courier authdaemon and pop3d and checked it.

My two cents to this common problem. Hope it helps.
