It's doable in theory: the PLAIN SASL mechanism allows a different
authorisation identity to be used from the authentication identity. So you
could have an authentication user/password which is allowed to access some
different set of mailboxes, or indeed all mailboxes.
But that would require a database mapping to say for user X what set of
mailboxes they could access. Sounds like a lot of work.
You could modify the authentication modules to have a "magic password"
though: i.e.
if (password == "F00Bar1234$$") then skip all password checks
