Hi,

I am using courier-imap in a special environment: all clients are
outlooks on a microsoft terminal server Windows NT4 (TSE)... I am using
qmail and courier-imap. I had to set special settings like :

/etc/courier/imapd
##NAME: MAXDAEMONS:0
#
# Maximum number of IMAP servers started
#

MAXDAEMONS=500

##NAME: MAXPERIP:0
#
# Maximum number of connections to accept from the same IP address

MAXPERIP=500

for evrything to work.

AND evrything DID WORK FINE (except the IMAP tree refuse to open up when
outlook starts, and outlook only want to focus on its local mail box) up
to the time it was decided by administrative people that the service
pack 6 (SP6) was required on the TSE server.

Suddenly, all went wrong.

Since the SP6 was installed on the TSE server, when an outlook try to
connect to courier-imap I see this in the logs:

Dec 12 18:03:59 mailhost imaplogin: Connection, ip=...
Dec 12 18:04:04 mailhost imaplogin: LOGIN FAILED, ip=...
Dec 12 18:04:13 mailhost imaplogin: LOGIN, user=lahondes, ip=...
Dec 12 18:04:13 mailhost imaplogin: Connection, ip=...
Dec 12 18:04:18 mailhost imaplogin: LOGIN FAILED, ip=...
Dec 12 18:04:18 mailhost imaplogin: DISCONNECTED, ip=..., headers=0,
body=0
Dec 12 18:04:18 mailhost imaplogin: LOGOUT, user=lahondes, ip=...,
headers=0, body=0
Dec 12 18:04:23 mailhost imaplogin: Connection, ip=...
Dec 12 18:04:28 mailhost imaplogin: LOGIN FAILED, ip=...

The connection is very slow and users can't get any new messages. This
occurs only when password is not 'remembered' by outlook, and only whith
outlooks on the TSE server.

I tried to fix authentification which use authdaemon :

in /etc/courier/imapd:

AUTHMODULES="authdaemon"

in /etc/courier/authdaemonrc:

authmodulelist="authpam"
authmodulelistorig="authcustom authcram authuserdb authldap authmysql
authpam"
daemons=20
version=""
authdaemonvar=/var/run/courier/authdaemon

but I could not do anything.

Any idea is welcome !

Thanks,
