I'm not able to make shared maildirs work, so I'm hoping someone can
tell me where I am going awry. I'm using Courier IMAP 1.6.2 on the
server, and testing with both Mozilla Mail 1.3b and Evolution 1.2.1. I
have also tested this on another Courier IMAP server (1.3.5) and I'm
seeing the same thing, so that's why I think I'm doing something wrong.

The mailserver holds virtual mailboxes, and each Maildir is owned by
user vmail, and Maildirs in /home/USER/Maildir/. So, as user vmail I am
doing these things to setup a shared folder:

  mkdir /home/shared-maildirs
  maildirmake -S /home/shared-maildirs/its
  maildirmake -s write -f test /home/shared-maildirs/its

Then, to set up the shared folder "its" for myself, I do:

  maildirmake --add its=/home/shared-maildirs/its /home/tack/Maildir/

README.sharedfolders says this last step will "install a link from a
regular maildir to a sharable maildir." I'm seeing no such link
anywhere, assuming it's talking about a symbolic link. I tried creating
/home/tack/Maildir/shared-folders/ myself, but that didn't seem to make
any difference. Well, perhaps I'm misunderstanding that part ...

However, with Mozilla, when I go to Subscribe, I can see the folder
shared.its.test. I click Subscribe and OK, and Mozilla says "Cannot
subscribe to this folder." Evolution doesn't even show the shared tree,
so I suspect this might be a problem with Evolution.

I _thought_ I was setting this up right, but perhaps not. Can anyone
point out where I've gone wrong?

Thanks,
Jason.
