I just swapped out a machine running an indeterminate version of Courier-Imap (the imapd and pop3d binaries are dated May 6th, 2002 if that narrows it down any...). The new machine is running Courier-Imap 1.7.0 on top of Qmail on a Gentoo Linux box.

I can connect to the mail server using IMAP via Squirrelmail however when I try and connect via Eudora and Pop3 I get an error message in Eudora that reads "SSL Negotiation Failed: You have configured this personality/protocol to reject any exchange key lengths below 0. , But the negotiated exchange key length is -1 Hence this established secure channel is unacceptable. Connection will be dropped. Cause (-6994)"

When I check the mail logs on the mail box I see "Mar 1 23:11:54 [pop3d] couriertls: accept: error:1408A10B:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_CLIENT_HELLO:wrong version number"

I've tried changing the TLS_PROTOCOL and TLS_STARTTLS_PROTOCOL and restarting the service but that doesn't seem to have an effect. I've also tried not starting the imapd-ssl and pop3d-ssl services...

I've tried Googling and found where someone had a similar problem related to Outlook Express instead of Eudora, however they simply wrote back saying they were sorry it was another problem without providing the solution.

This was working (with a self-signed ssl certificate if it matters) before the boxes recent move from the in-house network to the colocation site. That said the only thing that was changed on the box was the IP and the hostname.

I would greatly appreciate any advice on where to look or how to fix this problem.

Thanks

Matt
