No sweat. Perhaps I'm just too used to folks being nasty on ML's over the years. I've certainly jumped to conclusions and sounded foolish as well, I admit that. But this may indeed be a bug. (perhaps platform specific? I dunno.. this machine is a PowerPC running Linux..) I know that mozilla's client doesn't support CRAM-MD5 for IMAP, it's in the source but is disabled...

It only tries PLAIN and LOGIN for now, so I was taken aback when it successfully logged in to this server. Mulberry definately does CRAM-MD5, but will authenticate using LOGIN with this particular server if you configure it to. I've installed Courier IMAP on many boxes, all of them using TLS except for this particular one.. so I never got around to the mysql CRAM-MD5 bit until now. Indeed the server doesn't _offer_ LOGIN initially, it only offers CRAM-MD5.. so these damn clients shouldn't try LOGIN in the first place.. but attempting LOGIN shoudn't succeed anyway if the server's not configured to offer it. Beyond all this, it's a fantastic server that's saved me from using UW-IMAP (thank god) on many sites.. so I hope this is either a bug, or me overlooking something.
