[courier-users] Can not get pop3 passwords to work

I have a postfix,courier-imap,courier-pop3 system with a main domain, and two 
virtual domains. It has been running for a couple of years fine. I tried to 
add a new user to one of the domains today and no matter what I do, I can not 
get it to log in the new user. What did I do before??

I ran the userdb command to create the user.
Checked /etc/userdb to see if the new entry resembled the others, it did.
Ran makeuserdb.
Verified the timestamp on the userdb* files was now.
Tried to log in via pop3 and failed.
Did I miss a step?

BTW: I have the authdaemond.mysql and .pgsql and .ldap files removed. I only 
want to use the userdb method.
