Ok, but this doesn't seem to have addressed the original question.
Are you able to have a separate 'user_prefs' file for each user?  If
so, where do they go?  It looks to me like you have a shared
'user_prefs' file stored under the 'spam' user's home directory.

Or am I missing something?
