Sam~ Any progress on this issue? It's proving a bother to my users. If you don't know how you're going to fix it, I'll probably have to adopt my own patch, even if it breaks your (not incorrect) idea of the way DSN's need to work.
You'll need to go ahead on your own, for now. This is not on my agenda at the moment.
